Birth Project
Dear Families,
I am a photographer who has been specializing in maternity and infant portraits for the last seven years. Recently I have been on a path that has lead me want to learn more about the whole birthing process and help educate women and families about the choices available to them for giving birth. As part of this I have decided that it would be beautiful to create a photojournalistic journey of images along with birth stories of many different types of births. My mission is to document and share a wide variety of family dynamics as well as birth experiences. I hope to share these with as many woman and families as possible to highlight the multitude of choices we have for such an exquisite experience.
I am looking for women who would like to have a photographer document the birth of their child. My vision is that I would go almost unnoticed during the birth, while documenting the overall environment and atmosphere. We would meet before your birth to get to know each other and discuss the types of images you are interested in having taken as well as the details of the day. I would also meet after the birth photos were taken with the families, as they would be an important part of the editing process, and deciding which images they are comfortable with showing as part of the project. Families will make the final decisions upon which images will be used in the book project.
As an expression of gratitude for participation in this project I will photograph the birth at 75% off of the normal fee as well as provide you with all of the digital negatives from your birth experience to own for yourself.
Personalized books of just your own birth are also available to be created, as well as professional prints, and would be purchased separately.
